about

The idea of Coincidentia Oppositorum, that is, the interpenetration, interdependence, and unification of opposites, has long been one of the defining characteristics of mystical thought. Hegel, Jung, Derrida, as well as Kabbalists, Kongo, Yoruba, Hindu, and Taoist mystics are some who illuminated us about it. In Coincidentia Oppositorum I explored this idea but as sound moving against sound and form moving against form. The composition could also be considered as a kind of mini concerto for cello, beautifully interpreted here by John Ehde.

I met these wonderful musicians in 2014, when Karl and Jesper invited my through an award from the Danish Government to come work in Copenhagen for 4 months. I had the opportunity to work with and compose for their ensembles as well as other members of the Danish Radio Orchestra. These musicians generously brought their talent and virtuosity to this live concert recording session.
